Equipment Required

  • Stove
  • Saucepan

Ingredient

  • 1 Cup tomato ketchup
  • 1/3 Cup honey
  • 2 tbs brown sugar
  • 2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbs apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 tbs butter/oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter or heat the oil. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant (do not brown).
  2. Stir in the ketchup, honey, and brown sugar, mixing until smooth.
  3. Add Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, chili powder, black pepper, onion powder, and salt. Stir well to combine.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer gently for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness (add more honey), smokiness (extra smoked paprika), or tang (a splash more vinegar) as desired.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Use as a steak sauce, marinade, or brush over meat during the last few minutes of grilling.
