Ingredient

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup bourbon
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Add ketchup, bourbon, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, onion powder, and cayenne (if using). Stir until smooth.
  3. Bring to a gentle simmer, reduce heat to low, and cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened and glossy.
  4. Taste and adjust salt, pepper, or sweetness. Serve warm as a glaze or dipping sauce for grilled meats.
